Who we are

Apic Productions is a video production company based in beautiful Vancouver, B.C. Established in 2016 by two passionate creatives who shared a dream of telling visually compelling stories, Apic was built on the belief that powerful visuals leave a lasting impact.

At Apic Productions, we help our clients turn their ideas into reality. From the early stages in pre-production to final delivery in post-production — and everything in between — our team ensures every project is executed with care, creativity, and precision.

Since 2022, Apic has steadily evolved to focus primarily on creative & commercial photography and videography. As part of this transition, we branched out our wedding services into a dedicated brand, Asteria Films, allowing Apic to concentrate fully on real estate-related work while maintaining the same commitment to quality and storytelling. Recognizing the growing demand for elevated property marketing, we have refined our services to specialize in high-quality visual content tailored specifically for real estate professionals, developers, and property owners.

Over the years, our team has grown into a tight-knit group of talented videographers, photographers, editors, and designers with extensive experience in Vancouver’s media and real estate landscape. Today, we combine our storytelling roots with strategic property marketing to create impactful visuals that help listings stand out and sell.

And Who is this guy?

Hey, I’m Albert, founder of Apic Productions (and Asteria Films, if you caught that earlier section). I’ve been drawn to creative work from a young age, especially videography and photography. My passion for this field really took shape through school video projects and contests, which sparked the journey I’m still on today.

Outside of client work, I still enjoy creating for fun — whether that’s making the occasional YouTube video, experimenting with Instagram reels, or testing out new ideas that may or may not turn into real projects. When I’m not shooting, you can usually find me playing ultimate frisbee, doing sim-racing, or thinking about the next big project that never comes.

A big part of my mission is to pass on the creativity torch to the next generation of talents. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many people in the industry, and I believe creativity grows best when it’s shared. Whether it’s collaborating with other creatives, mentoring younger filmmakers, or simply encouraging people to pick up a camera and start creating, I hope to help inspire others to explore their own ideas and tell their own stories.

What about the Creative Projects?

Spider-Man: No Way Home Budget Trailer

Albert Leung | 2021 | 9.3M views on YouTube

On a cold winter night during the 2021 Christmas break, instead of hosting the usual holiday party, we decided to spend the evening recreating a trailer that had just been released. The hype around Spider-Man: No Way Home was everywhere at the time, and it felt like the perfect excuse to turn the holidays into a spontaneous filmmaking session.

What started as a simple idea quickly turned into a full night of filming, experimenting, and figuring things out as we went. We worked with whatever locations, props, and gear we had available, trying to recreate some of the iconic shots from the trailer in our own way. A lot of the process was trial and error — testing camera angles, improvising lighting, and finding creative solutions to match the feel of the original as closely as we could.

More than anything, the project reminded us why we enjoy filmmaking in the first place. It was a group of friends coming together, staying up late, and pushing ourselves creatively just for the fun of it.

Then something unexpected happened. Over the next month, the video ended up reaching more than 9.3 million views online. We were calling each other in disbelief, joking that our Christmas present had arrived early. What started as a casual holiday project ended up becoming one of our most memorable creative experiences.

Artificial Gecko Skin | Science Video

Shortly after the success of our Spider-Man: No Way Home budget trailer, we received an unexpected email from Veritasium. Derek Muller and his team had seen the video and shared it internally.

While looking into our background, his producer discovered that Albert — besides filmmaking — also has an engineering degree, which made the collaboration a natural fit.

Albert was soon flown to Stanford University to film inside a research lab studying a gecko-inspired adhesive material. Working alongside Derek and the researchers, the project focused on capturing the process and translating complex science into engaging visuals.

The Vow | Music Video

Ariel Tsai | 2017 | 2.1M views on YouTube

We first met Ariel Tsai back in university, when she was just beginning her music career and we were just starting out in filmmaking. What began as a small collaboration quickly grew into a long-term creative partnership and friendship.

From producing her very first music video to working on some of her most popular releases, we’ve had the chance to grow together creatively over the years. The Vow remains one of the most memorable videos we created together — I mean, just look at the piano.

Since then, Ariel has moved back to Taiwan, but we still collaborate on special projects whenever she’s back in Vancouver. We even had the chance to film and photograph her wedding — a true full circle moment for all of us.

Eat with David | Food Docuseries

Xiami Media | 2023 | 5.0M combined views on YouTube & Bilibili

Another international project we worked on was a food documentary series with David Wu, a renowned Chinese American film actor. Over the span of two years, our team travelled to Taipei and Shanghai, visiting hundreds of restaurants while documenting local food culture along the way.

The process involved constant travel, tight filming schedules, and capturing the energy of each location as authentically as possible. The series eventually found a large audience across Asia, racking up millions of views and showcasing the unique cuisine and stories behind the places we visited.
